The Shoebill (Balaeniceps rex) called "Abou" was born in 2008 in Pairi Daiza, an animal park in Cambron-Casteau in Belgium, it is united to the Exmoor Zoo in the Kingdom. Abou is one of eight Shoebills currently kept in animal parks in Europe. Pairi Daiza was the first park in the world to hatch two large gray Shoebill chicks in 2008: Abou and Marqoub. This extremely special bird species also rewards the Exmoor Zoo's output in the presentation and reproduction of birds living in wetlands.
The team of Sierwatervogels.NL wishes the Exmoor Zoo every success with Abou in the hope that many more chicks may follow.
